The Woombye Way

Small community. Real experiences. Childhood should feel like this.

Woombye Childcare Nature Kindergarten is an intentionally small early childhood community for children aged two to five.

Here, children are known, heard and valued. They have time to play, learn, think, create, investigate, take supported risks and build forever relationships—with  friends, teachers, families, the natural world and the Woombye community.

Enrolments for Term 4, 2026 and 2027

We currently have a small number of places available for Term 4, 2026 and are welcoming enrolments for 2027.

WCK offers:

  • A Queensland Government-approved Kindergarten Program for children in the year before Prep, led by experienced, registered early childhood teachers.

  • Free Kindy for eligible children, providing 15 hours each week across three days.

  • Our Pre-Kindy Program for children aged two to four years.

We invite your family to visit WCK, meet our teachers and explore the environments where children’s ideas, questions and theories are listened to, valued and given time to grow.

Book a visit and experience The Woombye Way.

Wunya -Welcome to  WCK

Nature, creativity and inquiry are woven through everything we do.

For more than 24 years, Woombye Childcare Nature Kindergarten has offered children a rich childhood grounded in relationships, nature, creativity and real experiences.

Our centre is where each child’s relationship with WCK begins. Children discover gardens, trees, mud, water, sand and natural loose parts alongside rich indoor studios for clay, visual arts, light, construction, storytelling, music and inquiry.

Our indoor and outdoor environments belong together. Children move between them as they play, investigate, create, revisit ideas and build their understanding of the world.

Nature Begins Here—and Grows Beyond Our Gates

Nature occurs every day at WCK.

Nature play is not limited to particular days or places. It begins within our centre environment, where children climb, dig, build, garden, create with natural materials, investigate living things and experience the changing weather and seasons.

As children settle into WCK, grow in confidence and are ready to move beyond the gates—generally from around three years of age—their learning extends to Bush Kindy at Milo and Jill’s, Green House Farm in Kureelpa and Walking Woombye.

Experienced, Engaged and Passionate Professionals

Our team includes experienced, university-qualified early childhood teachers and specialists in nature pedagogy and the visual arts.

Their professional knowledge shapes WCK’s rich environments, meaningful relationships, inquiry projects and real-world learning experiences.

Our intentionally small group sizes and generous teacher-to-child ratios give teachers time to listen closely, work alongside children, respond to their ideas and create new possibilities for their thinking and learning.
