At WCK, children are supported by a highly experienced team of early childhood professionals who bring together qualifications in early childhood teaching, education, visual arts, nature pedagogy, leadership and training.

Our team includes university-qualified and registered early childhood teachers, and people with specialist knowledge in visual arts, inquiry learning, nature education and risky play. This breadth of knowledge allows us to offer a genuinely rich educational program.

Professional learning has always been central to WCK. Our teachers and educators have undertaken extensive training, international study tours and professional learning in Reggio Emilia–inspired practice, inquiry-based learning, Forest School and nature pedagogy, children’s rights, active supervision, risk-benefit practice, slow pedagogy, neuroscience, visual arts and the role of environments in children’s learning.

This knowledge can be seen in the way our team:

• listens carefully to children’s ideas, questions and theories 

• develops inquiry projects that grow over days, weeks and sometimes months 

• works alongside children as researchers, collaborators and thoughtful guides 

• creates rich studios and environments for art, clay, construction, light, movement and investigation 

• supports children to assess challenge, solve problems and become capable risk-takers 

• documents learning carefully and uses reflection to continually strengthen the program ​

Our intentionally small groups and generous teacher-to-child ratios give educators the time to know each child deeply—their interests, friendships, strengths, ways of communicating and emerging ideas.
